We love the final result of our DIY mirror!

Here is what we had before!
I’ve been wanting to add more interest and light in to the middle room of our house. This room has no windows and it has 2 doors. It is our catch all, walk through, storage office space you could say. It is directly in the center of our house surrounded by rooms. I would love to use this dead space in a better way so I thought this modern DIY mirror makeover with electrical tape could inspire or help me want to be in this room more as an office! (We need to repaint desperately! This is how this room looked when we purchased the house.)

This mirror is a heavy mirror that used to hang in our old bathroom at my moms house. The edge on the bottom corner is chipped but after this tape project you would not be able to tell!
Here is the Amazon link for the tape I used.
I think I used only 1 roll but it has been a while and I can not remember.

Here are the steps I took to makeover this old mirror:

Measure how much tape you will need and how big you want your grid (I marked mine on the back)

Peel the tape

Cut the tape at least 3 or 4 inches longer than the mirror because stretching the tape out is going to make the strip of tape seem longer but it will shrink down a little bit.

Lay the tape strips out on the mirror with the sticky side up so the tape can adjust from being stretched out back to the original state. Wait an hour (or a few).

Took a break to capture the cuteness! He’s such a good helper!
With a straight edge (I used a measuring stick and a measuring tape) lay out your electrical tape and press into place. I taped the middle lines first waited an hour or so in case the tape stretched at all and then I did the edges.

It’s been over a year now since I did this project and the tape has not budged! But for extra support you could use glue on the ends on the back.
